Fiat will launch its Fiat Linea in India, in mid-December 2008





Fiat will launch its Fiat Linea in India, in mid-December 2008. The C-segment sedan was expected to be launched in September 2008.
Fiat India Automobiles Ltd, one of country`s leading car makers, today commenced the production of Linea at its Ranjangaon plant located near Pune in Maharashtra. Linea, the much-awaited sedan from Fiat`s stable will grace the Indian roads shortly. The start of production of the flagship car also signifies the progress of Fiat`s facility which is an industrial Joint Venture with Tata Motors Ltd. The 200 acre facility now has a completely equipped body shop, assembly line, a paint shop which is to be commissioned shortly and the Powertrain Plant.
Linea is a C plus segment sedan which was launched internationally in May 2007 in Istanbul,after which it met with great success in all markets where it is present. An elegantly functional car,with a strong Italian imprint, it will be equipped with features found in higher segment cars. The launch of Linea will be followed by the Grande Punto, a successful hatchback from Fiat’s stable,which will also be manufactured from the Ranjangaon facility. The Grande Punto is a top seller in Europe and has an annual sales of about 3, 50,000.

Fiat Linea will be available in two engine options:
- 1.4 Litre 95Bhp Twin Cam Petrol
- 1.3 Litre 90Bhp Multijet Diesel

It is expected that Linea will be priced from 7 to 9 lakhs.

Mahindra Xylo is coming …Expected Price:Rs. 650,000

XYLO (pronounced Zy-lo) which is an indigenous multipurpose vehicle made by the Mahindras under the project Ingenio will be ready for launch this quarter.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), India’s leader in utility vehicles, today announced that it would unveil the all new Mahindra Xylo (Zy-lo) in the current quarter. The Mahindra Xylo is the brand name for Project Ingenio developed in-house by Mahindra post the success of the Scorpio.


The much awaited Mahindra Xylo has been co-created with customers for developing a vehicle around the lifestyle and luxury aspirations of its end customer. This is further testimony to Mahindra’s customer centric vision of co-creating products and services based on the feedback and latent needs of its consumers.



The Xylo codenamed Ingenio, will be roled out from its Nashik plant and launched simultaneously in the domestic and international markets. The Xylo will be powered by the 2.5 litre CRDi diesel engine, currently used in the Scorpio. The styling of XYLO has been CO-developed by M&M and the Italian design team. Around 160 experts from M&M created new benchmarks in terms of styling, technology and performance to design the product.

We can expect the Mahindra XYLO to be priced a bit lower than comparable versions of the Toyota Innova. Power and interior space are expected to be as good or better than the Innova. the XYLO is Mahindra’s first foray into the multi purpose vehicle segment in India. This MPV will compete directly with the Toyota Innova.

A-Star, Maruti's new car




The A-Star, Maruti's new B-segment competitor, was launched in Mumbai on November 19.
The A-Star will come in three variants – LXi, VXi and ZXi – the usual nomenclature Maruti uses for its models, and will be priced at Rs 3.54 lakh for the base version, going up to Rs 4.05 lakh for the ZXi, both prices ex-showroom.Maruti claims the A-Star will return over 19kpl.

Face-lifted Ford ikon




A face-lifted, interior upgraded Ford ikon with a new modern diesel engined is reintroduced in Indian car market. The exitng news is that it will come with the 1.4 litre duratorq engine from the Fiesta.
